Deep cleaning or regular cleaning: which do you need?
The difference between a regular and a deep clean, when each one makes sense, and why a deep clean is often the right first booking.

“Regular” and “deep” are the two words that come up most when people book a clean, and the difference between them is not always explained. Here is how we think about it.
A regular clean keeps a home where it is
A regular clean is maintenance. It covers the parts of a home that get dirty every week: floors, surfaces, bathrooms and the kitchen. It assumes the home is already in good shape and keeps it that way.
Done every week, it is also the most economical way to have a clean home, and we take a percentage off the cleaning when it is booked weekly.
A deep clean resets it
A deep clean goes further, into what a regular clean does not get to every visit. Typically that means:
- Limescale built up on showers, taps and glass.
- Grease on kitchen fronts, extractor hoods and the wall behind the hob.
- Dust on skirting boards, door frames, blades of fans and tops of cupboards.
- Behind and under the furniture that can be moved.
- Grout, window tracks and the corners a mop does not reach.
Every home is different, so ask us what yours will include before we start.
When to choose a deep clean
- Your first clean with us. A regular clean maintains a standard. If the home is not there yet, a deep clean gets it there first.
- After a long stretch without cleaning, or after work or illness has kept everyone too busy.
- After the humid months, when mould and mustiness have had time to settle in. Our guide to mould in a Mauritian home covers what to look for.
- Before or after guests, or before a holiday home is opened up again.
- Before you start a weekly package, so every weekly clean begins from the same standard.
When a regular clean is enough
If the home was deep cleaned recently and is cleaned every week or two, a regular clean is all it needs. Book a deep clean a few times a year to catch what builds up slowly.
What about moving in or out?
A move in or move out clean is its own service, for a property that is empty or nearly so: a full clean before you move in or after you leave. It is priced separately.
Sofas, curtains and rugs
Neither clean includes fabric cleaning, which is done piece by piece. Sofa, curtain, rug and window cleaning can be added to any clean, and are a natural pair with a deep clean.
Compare the prices
Both prices sit side by side for every size of home on our 2026 price list, so you can see the difference for your number of bedrooms before you decide.
Questions
Short answers to what we are asked most.
What is the difference between a deep clean and a regular clean?
A regular clean keeps a home in good shape. A deep clean resets one, reaching the places a regular clean does not get to every visit, such as built up limescale, grease and the dust behind and under things.
How often do I need a deep clean?
Most homes benefit from one a few times a year, and after any long stretch without regular cleaning. Homes with regular weekly cleaning need them less often.
Should my first clean be a deep clean?
Usually, yes. A regular clean maintains a standard. If the home is not at that standard yet, a deep clean gets it there first, and regular cleaning keeps it there.
Is a move out clean the same as a deep clean?
No. A move out clean is a full clean of an empty or nearly empty property, before you move in or after you leave. It has its own price on our list.
